Specifications Writer

Garmann/Miller is seeking a specifications writer with a minimum three years of experience preferred in fields that include, but are not limited to, education, commercial, healthcare and industrial architecture.

Candidates will be responsible for writing the specifications and coordinating them with the drawings. Other responsibilities will include working with the design team to ensure all disciplines specifications are coordinated. Required skills include experience with construction contracts, specifications writing, innovative problem solving, good communication and potential management skills. Knowledge with specification writing software preferred.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Minimum three years of experience in  education, commercial, healthcare and industrial architecture

- Well-rounded experience in all phases of design, construction documentation, codes, specifications, and construction administration

- Excellent drawing skills and knowledge of construction techniques/ detailing

- Understanding of construction contracts and general conditions of construction projects

- Experience with building and zoning codes

- Knowledge with specification writing software preferred

- Understanding and ability to coordinate the work of engineering disciplines

- Strong interpersonal, verbal, written and listening skills

- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, creative, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Electrical Designer

Garmann/Miller's growth has created an immediate opening for a full-time Electrical Designer. Come join our flexible, family-oriented work environment. Electrical Designer to design power systems, lighting, fire alarm, security and sound systems. Applicant must possess strong communication and organizational skills and be detail-oriented. Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment and be able to handle multiple projects.

Design Internship/Co-op

Garmann/Miller welcomes students to apply for seasonal paid internships and co-ops at our Minster, Ohio, location in the following disciplines: architecture, electrical and mechanical engineering, landscape architecture and interior design. BIM Specialist

Garmann/Miller Architects-Engineers is looking for an experienced professional to join our team in the field of building information modeling (BIM) technology. The ideal candidate will support our project teams and BIM manager by developing best practices in BIM software and should have a passion for technology, a strong computer background and extensive knowledge of the use of the BIM process in the architecture-engineering-construction industry.

BIM Support Task

• Under the firm’s BIM manager supervision, execute BIM action items defined by the BIM Committee to achieve consistent results

• Provide office-wide BIM desktop support

• Assist teams with daily model management administration and maintenance

• Provide teams with project start-up information

• Produce BIM content for the office library

• Produce project specific families in compliance with office BIM standards

• QA/QC components from manufacturers that are required by project teams

• Provide in-person training, developing and shadowing to staff

• Disseminate information about office standard content and templates

• Maintain and update BIM standards and the office BIM guidelines

• Stay informed regarding best practices for the use of Revit and BIM process

 IT Tasks

• Perform hardware/software testing to ensure best Revit performance results

• Perform annual software and project upgrades

• Help IT with assembling deployment packages

• Direct project teams to IT support when outside of BIM scope

• 3+ years of experience in the documentation of architectural projects

• In-depth working knowledge of current BIM applications with emphasis on Revit

• Proven efficiency and ability to meet challenging time schedules

• Proven efficiency and effectiveness in a team environment

• Proven interest in the development of BIM solutions within a broad environment

• Strong communication skills

• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Sketchup, Navisworks, Dynamo, Infraworks, Lumion, Enscape and BIM 360 is an asset
