Project Update: Edgerton

G/M Logo

Edgerton Local Schools started renovation and addition work in February to an exisiting building that Garmann/Miller had previously designed. An official groundbreaking ceremony was recently held to celebrate.

Edgerton Local Schools is building a Pre-K through 8th grade addition onto an existing high school building

that was completed in 2002. The addition, which is approximately 50,000 total square feet, consists of two stories. The first floor will house the Pre-K thru 2nd grade classrooms as well as 7th and 8th grades. The second floor will contain classrooms for grades 3rd-6th. The addition also includes administration space, a media center, art room, computer lab and a 3500 square foot gymnasium.

The project is registered with the USGBC for LEED Silver certification.  Efficiencies in the building include a combination of daylighting and skylights, interior and exterior light shelves, daylight harvesting and low flow plumbing fixtures. The building is scheduled to be completed by summer 2011.

dck North America,LLC is the Construction Manager and Hamilton Hunter Builders of Ft. Wayne is the General Contractor.
Garmann/Miller Sponsors "Design and Ad"

Garmann/Miller, along with other local businesses, lent their logos and slogans to an event organized by The Evening Leader newspaper. The "Design an Ad" event allowed local  middle school students to learn about basic advertising design skills and techniques from the newspapers advertising department. After the lesson students designed their own ads. Each business picked their favorite ad and overall winners were also selected from each school by the paper. Ads were featured in an edition of The Evening Leader.

The winning Garmann/Miller ad below is from a student at Minster Middle School.
