Project Update: Lakota Local School
Lakota Local School in Kansas, Ohio, broke ground on a new school in May 2009. The 176,000-plus square foot facility will house PK-12 students. Currently, the school district is operating five school buildings in five different locations. The new facility is located on the same site as the current high school.
The new school will feature a varsity and auxiliary gymnasium with an operable wall between the two that can be opened for larger events and hold up to 2000 people. A media center with two computer labs and a canopy reading area for elementary students will be centrally located in the school. The school will also feature a tiered auditeria complete with a full performance stage. This area will also have terrazzo flooring, stone columns and a legacy wall featuring architectural pieces that are being salvaged from the five existing schools. The site will also include the existing football stadium as well as new athletic fields and playground space.
Bostleman Corporation is the Construction Manager and the Mel Lanzer Company is the General Contractor. The project is scheduled to be complete in time for occupancy in the fall of 2011. |

Ridder Earns Designation
John Ridder, IT Design Engineer for Garmann/Miller Architects-Engineers has recently earned his Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) designation.
