Garmann/Miller progresses into the new year
Garmann/Miller Architects & Engineers continued to experience growth and success in the 2009 year. While other firms have struggled, Garmann/Miller has maintained its steady growth and moves forward into 2010 with an optimistic outlook.
Into its 17th year of business, Garmann/Miller continues to serve the western third of Ohio with its 30 staff members of registered architects, landscape architects, designers, professional engineers, construction administrators and administrative personnel. Throughout the years the company has seen substantial growth in the commercial, municipal, healthcare and educational markets.
For Garmann/Miller, the past year has welcomed the ground breaking of several large, new projects including: Elida High School, Lakota Local School in Kansas, Ohio, Cridersville Elementary School, Wapakoneta Elementary School and the Lockkeepers House in New Bremen. Other current projects include addition and renovation work at Wapakoneta Middle School, Wapakoneta High School, Crestview Local School in Convoy, Ohio, and St. Michael's Hall in Ft. Loramie.
The firm has also completed numerous other smaller and private projects with several others under construction or set to begin soon. The recent passage of bond issues for Findlay City Schools, Vantage Career Center in Van Wert and the Cedar Cliff Local Schools District will ensure an increased workload for the upcoming year.
In February 2009, Garmann/Miller accepted the Ohio Masonry Association Award of Excellence for its design of the Versailles Emergency Services Facility. In November the firm received the Award of Excellence from the Associated Builders and Contractors by H.A. Dorsten, Inc. for the Heart Institute of Northwest Ohio.
Garmann/Miller is pleased to have staff members who have achieved LEED Accredited Professional status. These individuals have achieved this status by successfully passing an exam administered by the USGBC whereby they must exhibit thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and familiarity with LEED requirements, resources and processes.
As the new decade is welcomed, the growing firm looks forward to design opportunities and continued success by providing exceptional architectural and engineering services to all of its clients. |

Cridersville Elementary broke ground in December 2008. It is on schedule to be complete in the spring of 2010. The new 58,828 square foot building will be home to kindergarten through fourth graders this fall. The loose furnishings, plantings and asphalt bid packages have been awarded to contractors and the playground package is set to be bid in February. This project is registered with the USGBC for LEED Silver certification.

Gilbane Building Company is the Construction Manager. Ferguson Construction is the General Contractor. Cridersville Elementary is one of four schools in the Wapakoneta City School District that Garmann/Miller has under construction.
St. Michael's Hall

Garmann/Miller is working with St. Michael's parish in Ft. Loramie to remodel their parish hall.
The owner is working on remodeling the kitchen and updating the interior hall finishes while contractors complete the more extensive addition and exterior labor. The remodel includes construction of a new covered entry and two-story lobby with exposed glue-lam beams. A much needed coat room, enlargement of current restroom facilities along with a new separate family restroom will be provided. New windows and fresh landscaping will complete the buildings look.
Local contractors working on this project are Baumer Constuction, General Contractor; Tom & Jerry's Heating and Air Conditioning, HVAC & Plumbing Contractor; and Wells Brothers, Inc., Electrical Contractor. The project is scheduled to be complete by the end of March to allow for wedding receptions and other parish activities to continue. |
