The Nicest Present
Under the tree the gifts enthrall,
But the nicest present of them all
Is filling our thoughts with those who care,
Wanting our Christmas joy to share.

We send our holiday joy and love.

New Knoxville School Update
Before Renovations
New Knoxville students enjoyed an extended summer this year; three weeks after all other local districts had started school they began filling the halls of their newly renovated building. September 8th marked a much anticipated date as faculty and students entered the building for the 2009 school year exploring new and renovated spaces. The renovation/addition began in the fall of 2006. The addition consisted of two new elementary classrooms and an infill area. The infill area provides additional space for a conference room, athletic directors office, gymnasium storage and a new activities entrance. Renovations to the building include administrative offices, a front entrance, kitchen and cafeteria. The front entrance was expanded and renovated for security purposes. The entire parking facility was redesigned; all asphalt was replaced and new curbing was added. Infrastructure renovations and improvements include HVAC, fire suppression, and technology. The fire suppression system was expanded to include the entire facility. Technology upgrades were also done to comply with the Ohio School Facilities guidelines. A new HVAC system was installed throughout the building. Classes resumed as final occupancy was being completed. The project is scheduled to be finished by the first of the year.

Black River School Gym Opens After Tornado Damage
On August 9, 2007 an F1 tornado touched down in north central Ohio on the campus of Black River School damaging multiple buildings including the school roof, board of education office, education center's modular classrooms, gym, softball fields and bus garage. The twister's 90 mph winds caused the gym's roof to collapse inward. The rebuilding process involved reconstructing the Elementary School roof and three of the gym's walls. The first day of school was delayed until Sept. 4th so the majority of the repairs could be completed. The gym was the last to be completed on the campus making the first day of available use on Nov. 24th. | |
